Winter Gothic Wedding with Style, obvs!

Jennifer & Lee were married at Kilkea Castle on October 30th 2021 …outside, that’s right…OUTSIDE and just look at the light we had! I’ve never brought a studio light and softbox for a photoshoot with a skeleton at a wedding before but sure the day I’ve seen it all is the day I quit photography. Always be yourselves on your day, always always, always!!!

Jennifer said;

“Lee and I met almost eleven years ago. It is crazy to think we have known each other for over a decade and we still want to be together! We have very different personalities which balances us out. For instance, I like to randomly exclaim “I am a fire sign” whenever I do something impulsive or get heated while Lee just rolls his eyes (with a coy smirk)! We never wanted a stereotypical Irish wedding (i.e. inviting half the county) to a religious ceremony. We wanted our wedding to reflect the most authentic version of us, which led us to our venue.

We had looked at a few different types of venues, but Lee was always so passionate about getting married in a castle, “Seeing as how I don’t own one, I’d at least like to get married in one!”. With that in mind we viewed some castle venues across Ireland, but Kilkea was something else. We fell in love immediately and knew this was where we were going to get married. Not a single thing about the entire place felt like a reproduction, from the ornate furniture to the six foot thick walls! Then, when we found it we could get married on Halloween weekend, well we couldn’t have dreamed of a more fitting place. I wanted a “Tim Burton-esque gothic chic” style and everything about our wedding encapsulated this dream. Let’s just say the life sized skeleton I originally bought for Halloween, played a major role throughout our day….”
